Bonus! Bonus! Bonus! This is just one of the many things that enter an employee’s mind when December comes. Just this week, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) released a memorandum that states the mandatory 13th-month pay to all wage and salary workers.

Not only that, DOLE made it clear that all employers should release the 13th-month pay before December 24.

DOLE Secretary Erlinda Baldoz said, “This early, workers are already expecting the payment of year-end benefits, including the statutory 13th month pay, so the reminder to all employers to comply with the payment of the 13th month pay is timely… The 13th month pay is a core labor standard and the DOLE will not compromise on its payment by the employers to their workers.”

The DOLE secretary also said employees who will have complaints regarding their 13th-month pays could directly report to the nearest DOLE regional office or call DOLE CALL CENTER at 527-8000 or  the Bureau of Working Conditions at 527-3000 local 301 and 307.

Thus this really mean all wage and salary workers? I hope so.
